TIMBERS SEAL WESTERN CONFERENCE FINAL SPOT

Portland Timbers sealed a place in the Western Conference final thanks to the slender victory over Colorado Rapids in the semi-finals. Timbers booked a final spot thanks to the 1-0 away win over Rapids when the two teams met at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado on Thursday.

LarrysMabiala scored the only goal at the end of the game to propel Portland Timbers to the Western Conference final where they will meet the winner of the other last four meeting between Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City.

NYRB EYEING PERMANENT DEAL FOR EDWARDS

MLS football giants New York Red Bulls (NYRB) are reportedly keen on retaining the services of Stoke City loanee Tom Edwards. 22-year-old Edwards is presently on loan at New York Red Bulls from English Championship highflyers Stoke City.

According to the report from Stoke On Trent Live, MLS football giants New York Red Bulls want to keep Edwards at the club beyond the end of his present loan deal after impressing in his right-back role and that a permanent deal is a possibility. UNITED FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO OFFLOAD WANTAWAY DEFENDER

Manchester United are currently finding it very hard to seal a departure for wantaway defender Phil Jones this summer and it has a direct effect on their summer transfer business as well. The former England international defender has been frozen out of the team since a long time ago and has not made an appearance for the team in over a year now. Although part of the reason for his absence from the team is due to a long-term injury he suffered during the last match he played for the Red Devils, he is also expected to find it very challenging to find his way back into the starting XI even if he returned to full fitness.

Jones has somehow managed to survive being sold by United and is currently under the management of a fourth manager at United since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. He has survived as many as three managers and has also remained at the club even though there have been as many as sixteen different transfer windows since the Red Devils appointed David Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson’s replacement back in 2014. After Moyes, he has played under Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho but has still managed to be at the club even under current manager Olé Gunnar Solksjaer.

RAMOS SNUBS MLS CLUBS, AGREES TO JOIN PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN

Sergio Ramos has finally decided to join French Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain as he snubs the approach made by several other clubs for his signature. The Spain international defender, whose contract only recently expired at Real Madrid this summer was a subject of serious speculations as a lot of clubs began showing interest in acquiring his signature following his announcement that he will be leaving Real Madrid in the summer. Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus were all linked with a move for the fierce defender but he seems to have decided to call Paris Saint-Germain his new home.

Ramos, 33, has reportedly agreed a deal in principle to sign for the French club and the deal will see him play for PSG for the next two seasons, with an option to further extend the contract. After leaving Real Madrid under strange circumstances, it was only normal for the player to find another club that he will sign for as he is still very much in top shape and raring to continue his career at the top level.

ALPHONSO DAVIES TALKS UP HIS TIME AT THE MLS

Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has establishes himself as one of the best left-backs in world football at the moment but it did not just happen all of a sudden. The Canadian defender is currently at his peak and has been making a huge name for himself while playing for German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich who have just been crowned the Champions of Germany.

The defender has now revealed in a recent interview how it all panned out for him and how he rose from being an unknown player playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps to becoming a UEFA Champions League winner with Bayern Munich. He was signed from the Major League Soccer outfit for a fee of $13.5 million in the summer transfer window of 2018 and even then, he did not get much attention because he appeared to be just another average young star.
