Bruce Arena Praises Top Praise

Bruce Arena is all praise for LA Galaxy top brass for not pressurising him to stay at the club and releasing him to serve his national side.

After they showed the door to Jurgen Klinsmann, the US association wanted to quickly rope in a suitable replacement to stabilise the struggling Yanks. So, they sent an SOS to Arena as he was not only the most experienced and efficient coach going around in the domestic circuit, he had also been the national coach from the late nineties to the early two-thousands.

The SOS was answered by Arena as he accepted the charge of the team again, but, as per the 65-year old, it wouldn’t have been that straightforward for him to take up the offer if his Galaxy bosses were not as supportive as they were. Continue reading “Bruce Arena Praises Top Praise”

MONTREAL, SEATTLE IN FINAL MLS LEADS

So far, in the 2016 MLS Football playoffs, home advantage have played a big role in helping out the lower seeded teams.

This has helped teams like Montreal, Toronto and Seattle get to the semifinal stage.

In the Eastern Conference semifinal series, Montreal came off with a 3-2 lead against Toronto FC in the game played at the Olympic Stadium in front of a big crowd of about 61,004.
Montreal Impact was leading after ten minutes in the game courtesy of Dominic Oduro’s goal. Another goal scored for the team by Matteo Mancosu barely two minutes later doubled the home team’s lead. The third goal for the team came in the 53rd minute as Ambroise Oyongo scored to make it 3-0.

Toronto however did not stand back and watch as they staged a comeback which saw Jozy Altidore score the first goal for the team in the 63rd minute of the game. Ten minutes later, Michael Bradley put past a second goal thus handing Toronto FC a little respite.

Toronto’s Coach, Greg Vianney had said after the match,

“I think we’ve grown up a lot. There probably isn’t a TFC team before this that would have been able to dig themselves out of a hole like that. That’s a tribute to the character, the belief of this group.

“There were not a lot of things going well for us during a lot of the game and we managed to find a few margins to tilt into our favor and get a couple of goals. Two away goals are big.”

Seattle Sounders came back to take a 2-1 lead over rivals, Colorado Rapids in the opening leg of the game. This was after a goal by Kevin Doyle had given the visitors the lead in the 13th minute. An equalizer for Seattle came in the 19th minute through Jordan Morris, and in the 61st minute, a penalty taken by Nicolas Lodeiro was enough to ensure that the home team took the lead.

Youngsters are at the frontlines of FC Dallas

Oscar Parejo is doing an impressive job in charge of FC Dallas as he has constructed a young squad that has been able to do a number of impressive feats including winning the U.S. Open Cup and snatching the top spots of the Western Conference as FC Dallas is the only club that is competing against Colorado Rapids for the 1rst spot of the MLS.

The average age in the squad of Oscar Parejo is 26 years which means that he has a fairly young team that have been able to collect points and secure positive results against just about every other team in the league.

FC Dallas has one of the most developed youth academy programs in the MLS and it has been giving them positive effects as there are a consistent amount of rising stars that are able to snatch a spot in the first team instead of being offloaded on loan deals to other clubs.

What clubs usually do to their young players is offload them to other squads where they have a better chance of getting time in the first team but FC Dallas take the risk of giving their youngsters time on the playing grounds and it has been obviously paying off. We aspire to be home to an MLS franchise,” Bob Morgan said.

MLS Chosen Over European Football

The Major League Soccer is being favored highly by all soccer players over European football.

The prime reason is due to some of the top leagues of Europe like the series A, English Premier League, French Ligue1 and Bundesliga that are quite physical and demanding. The teams are made to join together in a major competition similar to the Champions League that gathers all the top players of Europe to jointly fight to achieve the biggest trophy and also to be awarded Champions of Europe. To become the champions of Europe is indeed not easy as you are not only playing with spectacular teams in Europe but also have to play in your own league too. For old players who are 30 and above, it is indeed challenging for their physiques.

As far as playing in MLS is concerned, it is not as tough, although it is quite competitive like that of Europe. Some of the renowned players of America are regarded as legends in the league. The names include Tim Howard, Brad Friedel, Clint Dempsey and Matt Miazga. There are many reasons that compel the players to choose MLS over Euro leagues.
