REPORTS: JONES COULD MOVE TO THE MLS THIS SUMMER

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has joined his teammates Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata as potentially likely candidates to transfer to the United States Major League Soccer this summer, according to a lot of reports from various sources. The former England international central defender, prior to his return to the United first team, had been out of action for several months as a result of a major injury he suffered in 2020. The injury opened a path to other further injury problems and they all combined to stop him from playing football for quite a long time. However, with the help of Olé Gunnar Solksjaer and the United team of doctors, he was brought back to full fitness and was re-instated into the first-team as a result.

Of course, since then, he has not done enough to displace Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane in the starting eleven whenever they are fit, but he has always done a lot to remain on standby just in case his services are called upon. His return from injury and to football action has earned him some suitors who have shown interest in acquiring his services as early as in the summer transfer window. It was earlier reported that some clubs in the English Premier League and in the Championship had started showing interest in signing him but the reports stated that those clubs were waiting for the summer transfer window to open proper for business.

However, recent reports have emerged stating that some clubs in the United States Major League Soccer have entered into the fray and are showing their readiness to sign him. New York Red Bulls, Inter Miami, Los Angeles Galaxy, and some other unnamed clubs are said to have submitted an interest and he could be on the move this summer.
