NEW YORK RED BULLS CONTINUE STRONG DISPLAY IN MLS

The Major League Football League witnessed yet another victory for the New York Red Bulls over the weekend.

The win becomes the fourth straight one for the MLS outfit. The club defeated Seattle Sounders 2-0.

FC Dallas were not so lucky as they were caught in a web of refereeing blunder in their own game. They were defeated by Sporting Kansas City by the same two goal margin; however, the talk post-game was about a controversial decision early in the contest which had a huge influence on the game all through.

FC Dallas should have started the goal scoring much earlier in the game when there was a mix-up in communication between Lawrence Olum and goalkeeper Tim Melia in the 15th minute. Olum had sent a back pass to the goal keeper but it eluded Melia to almost go pass the goal line until the goal keeper quickly got back and cleared the ball back into play. Frank Lampard failed to impress in the MLS

Despite having a great career in the Premier League with Chelsea where he managed to win 3 Premier League titles, Frank Lampard has failed to impress in the MLS where he is even considered as the worst signing ever to play for New York City FC.

Some pundits have argued that the best thing he could do for City is to leave the club and to free the Designated Player slot so that the team can be able to sign a player that could really contribute to the club. Indeed, Frank Lampard has failed to make any telling contribution to the club given that he has most of the time been injured. And when he has been to play he has more often than not look to be out of form.

Frank Lampard has yet to make an appearance this season and the New York City FC coach; Patrick Viera seems not to be aware when he will make his return to the club.

Some people argue that City does not really need Frank Lampard at the club given that they currently have a host of midfielders at their disposal, and they will be better off recruiting another quality striker. Indeed, they have often seemed to rely on David Villa and having a quality striker will provide some respite to the veteran Spain forward. Vancouver Whitecaps were Disappointed

Vancouver Whitecaps were left disappointed after they failed to get three points against LA Galaxy on Sunday.

After having made a disappointing start to the campaign with two back-to-back losses, it looked like Vancouver were on the right road after winning their last two matches. However, this draw leaves them on the verge of being overtaken by teams like San Jose Earthquakes into the final play-off place. Even though it is still early days in the campaign, keeping in touch with the leaders will be vitally important for the team. There will be consolation that Vancouver managed to draw this match despite being down to 10 men for much of the encounter.

Matias Laba received a red card in the 28th minute while the team was already without captain Pedro Morales following a first half injury. Winger KekutaManneh also had to be taken off from the game due to an injury. Vancouver then produced a solid defensive display in order to keep out the opposition at bay. They, at times, relied on the home support in order to stay in the match. Carl Robinson claimed after the game that he had mixed emotions about the result. He was happy with the way his team recovered from the first half setbacks to draw the match, but he was happy with how they lost their home advantage. Toronto FC maintained their position near the top of the table

Toronto FC maintained their position near the top of the table after a thrilling 4-4 draw with New York City.

The match witnessed the best of Italian striker Sebastian Giovinco, who came up with a hat-trick in the space of 10 minutes. The goals from the former Juventus man came just after New York City had taken a two-goal advantage in the game. David Villa was one of the scorers for the newly formed MLS franchise. However, a brilliant comeback from Giovinco was only spoiled by the late equaliser from Mullins. Despite this, Greg Vanney says that he is extremely happy to have witnessed such an exciting game of football.

It was a rollercoaster ride throughout the 90 minutes. Even though there is disappointment within Toronto not to have taken all three points after having come very close towards doing so, they will be extremely happy with an away point. This keeps them going, although New York Red Bulls have extended their advantage by one more point after the win over New England Revolution. Toronto could have easily won the match had it not been for more goals fromGiovinco, who had missed a penalty in the 90 minutes. The 28-year-old, though, did convert one. Sporting Kansas City have been able to benefit immensely by the partnership

Sporting Kansas City have been able to benefit immensely by the partnership between Dom Dwyer and Krisztian Nemeth.

The duo have produced nine goals in combination with each other. It could only get better as they start to play regularly with each other.Nemeth managed two goals in the recent 4-2 win over New England Revolution. This helped the 26-year-old take his tally to 5 goals in nine appearances for the season.Dwyer, meanwhile, has managed to grab four goals in 11 appearances. Both these players have been the primary attacking prowess for the club with the likes of Pietersen yet to score.

Nemeth says that it will not be long before the partnership starts to produce great results given that they will know about their moves much earlier than the opposition defenders. Sporting have lacked the consistency to keep them challenging for the title, but they remain in the hunt for a play-off spot. A run of just two wins in the last five matches has seen them remain level with the likes of San Jose earthquakes and LA Galaxy in terms of points. After the win over New England, it will be extremely difficult for Sporting Kansas City to keep up the form since they are up against Seattle Sounders in the next match.
