PAREJA FIRED

Oscar Pareja is not the manager of Colorado Rapids anymore. He has decided to resign from his post and there have been reports that he will take over from Schellas Hyndman at FC Dallas.

FC Dallas is not going to be a new club by any means for Pareja. He has spent a lot of time there in the past, first as a player and then as an assistant manager.

Colorado hadn’t performed poorly under Pareja in the last season. They had won more than 40% of the matches that they had played in the league and had ended up in top 5 in the Western Conference Points Table. They had made it to the MLS Cup playoffs as well.

Because of Colorado’s consistent performances in the last season, Pareja was expected to continue as manager, but, that didn’t happen.

However, joining Dallas is not going to be that easy for Pareja. He has left Colorado 1 year before the completion of his contract, so, according to the Rules, he can’t join any other club as manager in the upcoming season unless Colorado releases him after receiving compensation from that particular club.

Pareja had been appointed as the Colorado boss a couple of years back in 2012. In his 24-month long tenure at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the former Colombian midfielder did quite well. The rapids played 68 games under his guidance and won 24 of them.

The man who is the strongest contender to take charge as the next Colorado manager is Robin Fraser who is Mike Petke’s assistant at New York Red Bulls at this point of time.

There are a few other candidates as well and one of them is John Spencer who has the experience of managing some top teams.
