TORRES KEEPS SCORING

Erick “Cubo” Torres was the top scorer for Chivas USA in an otherwise disappointing season last time around. The forward finished with seven goals for the league campaign, but this was one of the few positives for the club, as they finished bottom of the table. It has been a good pre-season for Chivas so far and the player has said that he is now ready to start this season. Chivas coach Wilmer Cabrera has stated that he hopes Torres will be able to continue the good goalscoring form he achieved in his first season.

He says that the second season is likely to be easier since he has already integrated with the new team. Wilmer Cabrera says that he wants the 25-year-old to cause as much havoc as he can in the penalty box. Torres rarely missed a game for Chivas last season, and Cabrera will be hoping for more of the same this time around. The club begin the new campaign with a match against Chicago Fire. The seven goals scored by Torres last season remains as one of the finest individual contributions for Chivas from a player since 2011.

The forward has stated that he now feels much more experienced than before, which is likely to aid him score more goals this campaign.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to start this season from zero and have a preseason. I have some experience now and know what this league is about, what the games and stadiums are like. I feel much more comfortable and armed for the start of this season. I’ve still got things to learn, but every day I’m learning more about the league and the United States. I’ve got to keep progressing and build off the six months I had here last year,” said Torres.
